The annual Association of Farmworker Opportunity Programs (AFOP) Migrant and Seasonal Farmworker Children Essay and Art Contest 2014 awarded two Morgan Hill students for their outstanding work. Jacqueline Herrera, 11, student from Barrett Elementary won second place for her art entry in the age category 10-13; and her brother, Hugo Herrera, 14, a 9th grade student attending Live Oak High won second place for his art entry in the age category 14-18.
Both students had their artwork appear in AFOP's September issue of the Washington Newsline. Their artwork will also be compiled along with other selected essays and artwork entries in a booklet to be presented to key members of Congress. Additionally, the winners received a cash prize to be used for school-related needs.
